Tornado, Severe Storm Threat: More Nasty Weather Bears Down on Tri-State | News 4 Now

After a night of severe weather on Tuesday, the tri-state is dealing with another round of rough weather coming through Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service issued multiple tornado warnings throughout New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Mercer (where Trenton is located), Burlington and Monmouth counties all had tornado warnings until 6 p.m.

Sullivan, Pike, Hunterdon and Bucks counties each had tornado warnings earlier in the afternoon.

The NWS’ Storm Prediction Center downgraded the severe storm risk for New York City and surrounding areas Wednesday to “slight,” meaning isolated thunderstorms are still possible, along with a tornado, but widespread severe weather is less likely than thought earlier in the day. Flood advisories were issued for all NYC until 8:30 p.m. and there were reports of flooding in Passaic County as well.

Torrential rain and gusty winds are still expected, though, Storm Team 4 says. The best chance for strong storms is still across the city, northeastern New Jersey, western Long Island and parts of the lower Hudson Valley between about 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
